Initiative Summary & Methodology

As part of the University of Houston research team supporting The Way Home—the homeless response system for the Houston/Harris County region—this initiative provided qualitative research leadership, interactive stakeholder facilitation, and strategic goal consolidation in collaboration with the Coalition for the Homeless.

Operating within the Department of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, the research effort paired rigorous qualitative methodology with participatory community engagement. The work translated frontline experiences, provider feedback, and leadership roundtables into actionable strategic pillars that govern regional housing stability, health integration, and system efficiency across Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery Counties.

Tasks & Scope Completed

• Interactive Stakeholder Co-Design Sessions: Designed and facilitated structured consultation sessions with cross-sector homeless service providers, housing leaders, healthcare representatives, and community advocates across the tri-county area.
• Qualitative Synthesis & Triangulation: Conducted in-depth qualitative analysis of complex community feedback, CEO roundtable transcripts, and focus group outputs to extract key systemic themes and priorities.
• Presentation of Preliminary Findings: Synthesized early findings and presented qualitative takeaways during dedicated conference sessions, facilitating interactive dialogue to refine strategic priorities.
• Strategic Goal Alignment: Mapping qualitative stakeholder feedback directly into cohesive 3-year strategic goals, performance metrics, and system-level recommendations.
